  1. I really like this form – it’s like a cousin of the blackout poem, and it pairs so well with the tanka that you wrote. They both convey such majesty and power – and above all, respect for this incredible animal.

    1. Ruth, it’s so cool that you saw one in Haiti. The red-tailed hawk’s “scientific name,” Buteo jamaicensis, is a nod to its Caribbean presence. {smile}
