Today I taught computer programming to kindergarten students.
The screenshot above was created with the programming language Scratch. While it’s not the programming language I used today (we used Scratch Jr), the image comes close to capturing what I feel I’m giving to my students.
Just like with written and spoken words, we’re empowering young people to change the world.

I think I am at kindergarten level in this language.

Maybe, but you’d be surprised at how quickly you picked it up!

I hope my grandchildren get opportunities such as the one you provided today!

I hope so too! If they don’t get it from anyone else, though, you can certainly provide them (trust me). You’ll surprised at how many “teach your kids (grandkids) to code” books there are out there!

I have purchased a couple of coding books / games for my son and he has enjoyed dabbling a bit. I remember learning Logo when I was a kid and then Pascal in high school. My husband uses SQL all the time in his job. It’s interesting to hear that you were teaching it to kindergarten kids. My youngest is in Grade 1 so maybe I should crack open the coding game with her.
