Summer Haiku

Just a couple of poems. I’m sorry to say the first one is more of a memory.

Under the dark sky
Crickets sing the night away
Cacophonous joy

A nearly full moon
Lightens the mid-summer sky
Immutable hush

  1. Love the haiku, especially the first one. We were looking to star watch last night and realized the nearly full moon, while beautiful was in the way of our desires. Still a welcome sight on a clear night! Thanks for sharing!

  2. I mourn the loss of insects. Summer nights are much too quiet. On a happy note, I found an assassin bug (my first ever!) and a katydid nymph in my tiny urban garden last night. So maybe there’s hope…

    1. The loss of insects, I think, is one of the greatest untold stories (well, ignored stories) of our age. There is hope, though–I think you’re right about that!

  3. These are both beautiful, Tim. I’m especially fond of “immutable hush.” I hope you discover many more haiku-worthy moments in your summer…and then share them with us!

    1. Thank you! I wrote “immutable hush” in my notebook years ago, but it wasn’t until now that I used it. I too hope to have more to share, and hope the same for you!
